Abstract

The aim of the paper is to analyze the cycle of economic development started after the collapse of convertibility in 2001 in Argentina, resulting from the worst crisis of its history. In this cycle, the Argentina economy achieved high growth rates between 2003 and 2008, without encountering the external constraints that interrupted periods of growth in previous decades. We describe the characteristics of the crisis that began in late 1998; we analyzed the changes in the State economic policies in 2002-2003 and the evolution of the new conditions of accumulation in 2004-2008, taking into account the influence of international prices. Finally present the main lines of the process after 2008, which led to the loss of competitiveness and slowdown in the last two years, and the current government orthodox policies.
