Abstract

The different ways to analyze the life maintenance processes have marked important ruptures in the economic theory. Starting with the analysis of the political economy subsistence, along with the ”Domestic’s work discussion” contributions, following with the appearance of the production-reproduction’s approach, and finishing with the viewpoint of life's sustainability, each perspective has understood these processes differently. This fact has got important consequences at the time of excluding or including the unpaid work and women’s economic experiences, among many other subjects. Giving an analytical centrality to the life maintenance processes is important to understand how the economy works, and to create an economic look that focuses on living conditions.
